Need bait? The Town of Essex operates a bait shop that offers worms, minnows, and artificial bait. It's open every day during the season. You can also check out South Shore Tackle at 250 Clithrow St, Harrow, ON N0R 1G0.
Colchester Beach is adjacent to a Pirate Ship Playground and Splash Pad at the top of the bluff. Borrow a volleyball from the harbour kiosk and spend some time spiking balls over the beachside nets. When it's time to refuel, cool down at The Wreck at Colchester Harbour or head up the street to a pub or restaurant.
For a second splash pad experience, head over to the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre. The splash pad is located beside a new play structure that is perfect for small children.
For a peaceful, self-guided adventure, launch your canoe or kayak from the dock at Cedar Creek, located just off Arner Townline (County Road 23). Paddle to Cedar Beach in just over an hour, taking in breathtaking views of Carolinian woodlands, landscapes filled with rare flora and fauna, and abundant wildlife. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars!
Colchester Beach and Harbour offer a picturesque waterfront for residents of the Town of Essex and surrounding areas, featuring a variety of amenities for all ages and abilities to enjoy. Rent pedal boats, kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards, or launch your own canoe or kayak from the beach or docks for a relaxing day on the lake.
Fun Fact: In 2025, Colchester Beach was awarded the 'Best Beach' in the 10th annual Tourism Windsor Essex Best of Windsor Essex awards!
